CIC couples' tournament Muriel Gurtz won top honors Thursday in the Catawba Island Club Golferette's Criers Tournament. She was first in the A flight section, and Marilyn Heenan was second. In B flight, Donna Kelley won first place; second was tied three ways among Betty Burke, Claire Gallogly, and JoAnn Englebeck. For nine hole players, Vivian Collister won first place and Virginia Straka second. A best ball twosome tournament will be played this Thursday. In the Friday night couples' tournament, George Gallogly and Phyllis Hoppe won low gross honors; Emil Ihnat and Mary Lambert, second place. For low net, Charles Donner and Mary Martin took first and LeRoy Bracken and Betty Burke, second place. Charles Copeland's drive on No. 8 green was the closest to the pin for the men, and Gerry Schaffner's for the women. A buffet supper was served in the club pro shop following play. if to to Chairmen of the Friday event were the Emil Ihnats and the Rodney Beldens. The next Friday night couples' tournament will be held July 10 with Mr. and Mrs. Michael Galway and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Balemain ccxhairmen.
