Rainfall has been less a than one-half inch in most places, when normal amounts from the last half of April to the first week in May should be around 2 inches. Early morning temperatures ranged from the upper 40s at Marietta to near 60 at Toledo. Skies were generally clear and southerly winds of five to 15 miles per hour prevailed. The twister touched down six miles south of the Texas Panhandle town of Plainview just before midnight, heavily damaging a construction trailer and downing phone lines, but no injuries were reported, said a Hale County sheriff's dispatcher who refused to be identified. Golf-ball-sized hail was reported in Edmonson, Texas, about 10 miles northwest of Plainview, according to the National Weather Service.

Born March 31, 1930, in Marblehead, he was a son of Michael and Lena Boytim Monak.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. For 26 years he worked at Sandusky Foundry, where he was employed as a crane operator, until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead; American Legion Post 555 of Marblehead and the Marblehead Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, the former Elaine Dorko, whom he married May 21, 1955; five daughters, Kim Hanville, Melanie Hallier and Missy Bird, all of Marblehead, Shawn Parasiliti of Curtice and Valerie Coles of Wakeman; a son, Jude E. of Marblehead; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin of Clinton and Kenneth and Norbert, both of Marblehead, and a sister, Lucille Kukay of Marblehead. Friends may call after 7 tonight at Gerner and Wolf Funeral Home, 216 Washington St. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Lessentine, 78, 1124 Lee formerly of Lakeside until 1983, died Sunday at H.B. Magruder Hospital. Born March 24, 1908, in Lakeside, she was a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Biers Lessentine.

She was a retired employee of Standard Products Co. She worked there for 25 years until her retirement in 1971. Surviving family members include her daughter, Elizabeth Taylor of Port Clinton; five grandchildren; five greatchildren and two sisters, Marie Stuckrath of El Paso, Texas, and Viola Mack of Port Clinton. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gerner and Wolf Funeral Home, 216 Washington where the family will be in attendance from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Her body will lie in state at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Marblehead, where she was a member. The funeral will be conducted there at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the charge was filed by Asie Whitt, address.

321 Garfield Drive, against her son, David, 25, of the same Police arrested Whitt at the house and also charged him with resisting arrest. He was placed in the Ottawa County Detention Facility pending an appearance in Port Clinton Municipal Court. DANBURY TOWNSHIP Danbury Police cited Christopher J. Mlynek, 18, Toledo, for failure to control his vehicle when his car struck the guardrail on Ohio 2 on the exit from the Thomas A. Edison Memorial Bridge.

Mlynek told police he was driving west when he suddenly realized his car had struck the guardrail. Mlynek wasn't injured in the accident. BENTON TOWNSHIP An Oak Harbor man was cited by the sheriff's department Sunday for failure to control his car after he drove off the road into a tree grove. Timothy Velliquette, 19, 2081 N. Benton-Carroll Road, was Toussaint North Road at 2:15 a.m.

ERIE TOWNSHIP A Euclid man was cited by the sheriff's department Sunday for driving under the influence of alcohol after he drove his pickup through a stop sign and drove off the side of the road. Michael Carney, 31, was westbound on West Crossing Road at 2:20 a.m., when he failed to stop at a stop sign, drove across Ohio 163 and went off the west side of the road, hitting several railroad ties, according to reports. He was not injured in the incident.

ERIE TOWNSHIP Two Port Clinton residents escaped injury Saturday after a two-car accident on Ohio 163. Edward Taylor, 61, 340 Christy Chapel Road, was westbound on Ohio 163 at 9:29 a.m. when he stopped to wait for traffic ahead of him to turn left. At the same time, Treva L. Wahlers, 23, 706 W.

Third was westbound on Ohio 163, failed to stop her vehicle and it hit Taylor's car in the rear, according to reports. No one was injured. Wahlers was cited for assured clear distance.
