These proposed amendments are the first comprehensive revision of Ohio's solid waste disposal rules since 1976. Revision of solid waste rules and incorporation of additional topics into the rules are required by House Bill 592, effective June 24, 1988. Among the rules to be amended or newly adopted are those dealing with the following topics: Definitions used in Chapters 27 and 37. Contents of detail plans for sanitary landfills. Criteria for approval of plans, including siting and design requirements.

Operation of sanitary landfills. Ground water monitoring at sanitary landfills. Closure and post-closure care of sanitary landfills. Financial assurance for proper closure and post-closure care. Public hearings on this proposed rulemaking will be held to consider public comment in accordance with Section 119.02 through 119.04 of the Ohio Revised Code.
