By ELLEN SIMON Associated Press NEW YORK Stocks ended a turbulent second quarter with a moderate decline Friday as money managers, doing some, last-minute adjustments, locked in gains from Thursday's big rally-Analysts attributed the selloff to end-of-quarter "window dressing" by managers preparing quarterly reports and the annual reconstitution of the Russell 3000 index, in which some stocks were added to the index while others were dropped. "This was nothing attributed to market said Ryan Larson, senior equity trader at Voyageur Asset Management.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 40.58, or 0.36, to 11,150.22. On Thursday, the Dow surged 217.24, its biggest single-day jump since March 21, 2003, when it added 235.37. Broader stock indicators also fell. The Standard Poor's 500 index dropped 2.67, or 0.21 percent, to 1,270.20, after Thursday's gain of 26.87, its largest point gain since March 17, 2003. The Nasdaq composite index fell 2.29, or 0.11 percent, to 2,172.09 after rising 62.54, its largest point gain since July 27, 2002.

Markets rallied Thursday after the Federal Reserve raised rates by a quarter of a percent and seemingly moderated its interest rate policy statement. But the Fed has still promised to keep a close eye on economic data. Wew Bwbef range By JoANNE VIVIANO Associated Press COLUMBUS It was on a winter trip to Denver that Amanda Walker discovered the funky-looking footwear that would become her bread and butter. The temperature 85 degrees and her feet tired, she was persuaded by locals to try Crocs. She thought the cloglike, rubber-like shoes were hideous but quickly got hooked on their comfort. And, she decided, she just had to carry them at her store, Heavenly Bath, Body Mora The bulky clog with a strap along the heel and holes across the top and around the toes is winning consumers over with its versatility and comfort.

Food service and factory workers, hair stylists and hospital personnel buy them for comfort. Boaters and swimmers buy them for function. And some just think they're fun. "It's unbelievable how popular they are," said Walker, who sells an average of 16 pairs of the colorful shoes each week at her store in suburban Cincinnati and said they account for more than half of her business. "I've definitely lived off Crocs for a while," she said.

"You get a shipment in and 'poof they're gone." Crocs, which got its name because the shoes are water-friendly and tough, now lends its cartoon crocodile logo to more than a dozen styles. There are flip flops, slides, a calf-high boot, a hiking shoe and a Mary Jane that's set to hit stores this fall. They come in 20 colors from chocolate and sea blue to lime and fuchsia and prices range from about $30 to $60. At Gem Beach Marina in Port Clinton, co-owner Megan Lovitt said Crocs are a good seller for the store that doesn't focus on clothing or shoes. She sold about 150 pairs during last year's boating season and expects to sell about 235 pairs this season.

Archers can shoot the targets from stakes at 20-, 30-and 40-yard intervals. Wadsworth said Ralph West of the Parma Archery Club helped lay out the course, which offers challenging angles that force participants to aim between branches.

The course has platforms, too, so hunters can simulate shooting from a tree stand. Tri-W3 is offering sponsorships to local businesses, Wadsworth said. For'a contribution ranging between $125 and $700, business owners can purchase a sign along the range with their company's information. The sponsorship lasts for one year. "We feel this is an excellent opportunity to advertise your business with us," Wadsworth said.

"You will also have the first opportunity to re-purchase them at the end of the contract." urn Tra-W3 Hours: Tri-W3 archery, 6862 W. Harbor Road in Port Clinton, range is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week. Membership: First year, $100; second year, $75; non-members, $8 per round.

With 30 life-size targets enclosed in 60 acres of woods just off West Harbor Road, owner Paul Wadsworth said the range is the best in Ottawa County if not Ohio. And the 41-year-old Port Clinton native plans to make it better. Sometime this fall, Wadsworth said he wants to convert the house that sits on the property, located at 6862 West Harbor Road (Ohio 163), into a hunting lodge and use the remaining 52 acres to host hunting parties.

"This is like a hunter's golf course," Wadsworth said. "We have a lot of deer and a lot of ducks and geese." Although the range opened in May, Wadsworth said the lodge's anticipated opening is around Labor Day. It will be able to accommodate about 24 guests in the Harley-Davidson suite and three other theme settings the turkey, wood quarter horses that his guides and clients can ride on the hunts. "It's all going to be top of the line," he said. "We have the best quarter and appaloosa bloodlines in the country." Wadsworth said he plans to introduce hunting to troubled children as well by setting up programs geared to teach kids the skills they need to become a hunter.

"We want to help kids with drug problems and stealing problems," he said. "We want to help them get on the right track." Until the lodge opens, Wadsworth said bow hunters duck and mallard rooms. To complement the lodge, Wadsworth also intends to start two adjoining businesses the Whistling Winds Cafe and Lion's Den, a fully licensed bar with a big screen television and wood-burning fireplace. The cafe will serve comfort food, he said. And after people eat, they can go shopping for bows, firearms and other hunting supplies at a temporary store on the property until Wadsworth opens Tri-W3 Outdoor Supplies in 2007, an emporium that he says will resemble a "mini Cabela's."
