Clinton Herald and Republican, Friday, February 26, 1943 BRIEFLY TOLD Mrs. Raymond Montgomery returned last Friday from Barnesville, where she had been called earlier in the week by the death of her mother. Miss Ella Hostrup of Toledo, spent from Friday to Monday visiting. relatives and friends here. Miss Dorothy Gulau, Fostoria, was home to spend the weekend with her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. J. H. Gulau. Condition of Charles Vallier, 28, Toledo, who recently underwent an operation for the amputation of his leg following an accident at Erie Proving Ground, is reported good.

Vallier still is a patient at the Proving Ground hospital. Milton L. Going returned home Monday after a week's visit with his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Pierce and daughter of Louisville, Ky.

Edward Madsen, Port Clinton Route 1, was arrested by police on Saturday, on charges of being drunk and disorderly. Following a hearing before Justice E. C. Brough, he was fined $5 and costs of $5.70, and sentenced to ten days in jail. Spring will soon be here.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert. Anderson, who lived at 620 south Jefferson street, moved this week to Marblehead. Carey Ronk, who has been vacationing in Florida for the past ten days, is expected nome next week.

Mrs. Robert Mitchell is slowly recovering at her home following an extended illness which has kept her confined to the house for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Donaid Wenger and daughters, of Cleveland, spent the week end here with relatives.

Peter Brodersen and Mr. and Mrs. Billman of Sandusky. A special program was presented at the meeting of the Eagles lodge Tuesday evening, when a number of new members were initiated. Ray Steinmiller of Cleveland, a former resident of Port Clinton, greeted a number of friends here Sunday morning, stopping here, a short time while enroute to Oak Harbor.

Miss Irene Christiansen and Mrs. Florence Burkett were Fremont visitors Monday. Washington's birthday was observed in the usual manner Monday, with the banks, court house and city hall being closed. Special patriotic programs were presented in the schools, and some of the wounger folk conducted parties ou this occasion, Mrs. Gaile Stevens, clerk of the county board of health, is suffering with a dislocation of her right shoulder, sustained in a recent fall.

and Mrs. Raymond Hathaway, 226 east Sixth street, are parents of a daughter born Friday, Feb. 19 at Magruder hospital! The baby, their first child, was born by Caesarian operation, and both mother and child are doing well. Mrs. Hathaway is the former Eleanor Dreier.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Marchbanks, State Saturday, Feb. 20, at Magruder hospital. Mr.

and Mrs. Thomas Wyler of Toledo, are parents of a daughter born on Monday, Feb. 15. Mrs. Wyler is the former Lois Jean Jeremy of Elmore.

Judge William Hunt will be the guest speaker, at the annual banquet of the Sandusky County Lutheran Brotherhood at Fremont on Monday evening. Members of the Colonial Club held a party and chicken supper in their club rooms Saturday evening.

Rev. G. W. Lilley, pastor of the United Brethren church, was principal speaker at a meeting of the Kiwanis Club Wednesday noon, when he told of the program as presented at the annual convention of the Ohio Pastors' Association, held at Columbus recently. Mayor Carl R.

The Rev.

W. A. Siefkes, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church officiated and burial was made in Lakeview cemetery. Mrs.

Lausten's death last Thursday night at Magruder hospital terminated a long period of illness. She is survived by one son, Harry Neumeister of Akron, N. 2 daughters, Mrs. Albert J. Holzhauer of Port Clinton and Mrs.

Conrad Zilch of Amherst; one sister Mrs. Amelia Yack of Port Clinton, and one brother, Herman Schubert of Milwaukee, Oregon; five grandchildren, one. great granchild, and a stepson, Andrew C. Lausten, president of the American Bank here. Mrs.

Lausten was born Jan. 20, 1866, in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Schubert, and came to Port Clinton in infancy with her parents. She was married on April 8, 1886 to John Neumeister, who died in 1903, and in 1912 she married Louis Lausten who also preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. John's church. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Gerner and Wolf and her son-in-law Conrad Zilch, who is a funeral director in Amherst.
